Houston, TX — A Houston police officer who posted a video of himself speeding in his patrol car on Instagram has been issued a citation for speeding.
The incident happened around 1 a.m.
Tuesday at the intersection of Cypress and East Texas avenues.
According to police, a person pulled into the lot of the grocery store near the intersection with Cypress Avenue after purchasing food.
The person then tried to run the stop sign but was caught by the officer’s vehicle.
The officer recorded the incident and posted it to his personal Instagram account.
“We received a report from the owner of the store and it appears that the individual did violate a traffic rule and was cited for speeding,” said Sgt. Eric Saucier, a spokesperson for the Houston Police Department.
“The officer did have to stop and talk to the individual to make sure he was okay and the video will be reviewed to determine whether the officer violated any law.”
The officer is expected to appear in court Thursday.
The video has been viewed over 1.3 million times.
